  • Broxburn Gala Week Foreword by Chairman Graeme Morrice

The theme of this year’s Gala Day is  ‘Circus’

This year’s Gala Day will take place at Albyn Park with the Opening Ceremony and Gala Queen Crowning in the Broxburn Sports Centre.  The Parade will start at Wyndford Avenue and end in Church Street.

As always, Broxburn Gala Week is action packed with activities and events for all ages.  The week itself will commence on the afternoon of Sunday 15 June with the Bonny Baby competition and Pre-school Children’s Fancy Dress contest in the Strathbrock community centre.

Details of these and other events are contained within the pages of this website.

The fun theme for this year’s Gala Day is ‘Circus’.  So we look forward to all the floats, decorated premises and fancy dress adopting this theme.

Opening the Gala Day will be John and Elizabeth Gemmell who have run a local business for 35 years so we are delighted that they have agreed to be our guests this year.

This year’s Broxburn Gala Queen is Elise Pirie.

Chief Lady-in Waiting Charlie Leonard will support Elise during her crowing ceremony, along with Lady-in-Waiting Samantha Rutherford.  Last year’s Gala Queen Nicole Morton will perform the crowning.

We wish Elise good luck in her new role and hopes she has a great year.

As always, thanks must go to my hard working Gala Week Committee.  Although small in number, the Committee’s commitment and enthusiasm is what makes the Gala Day a reality.  However, help is always needed, so why not consider offering a helping hand.  Any assistance no matter how great or small is always warmly welcomed.  Grateful thanks also to our sponsors whose adverts are contained within the Gala programme, which is available locally for £1.

Raising funds to pay for the Gala Week is always a struggle.  Each year we need to raise around £15,000.  But you can help too.

From Sunday 15 June to Sunday 29 June inclusive, please put all your empty glass containers in the bottle banks in Broxburn.  All glass deposited during this period will earn the Gala Committee money.  The more glass you recycle the more money we will make - and you will also be helping the environment.  So start saving all your glass now!
